Breakfast & brunch at Kálvin tér

Cafe Brunch Budapest – Kálvin tér is bringing our signature breakfast and brunch experience to one of Budapest's most historic and elegant neighbourhoods. Located at Múzeum utca 7, just a short walk from Kálvin tér and directly opposite the Hungarian National Museum Garden, our new restaurant will welcome guests inside the magnificent Hadik Palace, a historic building in the heart of the city's Palace District.

The restaurant combines the charm of Budapest's aristocratic past with the relaxed atmosphere of a contemporary brunch destination. Three beautifully appointed dining rooms will offer more than 100 indoor seats, surrounded by elegant architectural details, two original fireplaces and a stunning marble staircase. Outside, guests can enjoy a 15-seat street terrace or escape the bustle of the city in our tranquil inner garden, with approximately 40 additional seats. The outdoor areas will be available according to the weather and season.

Cafe Brunch Budapest has been serving breakfast and brunch since 2017, combining traditional Hungarian breakfast favourites with internationally inspired dishes. At our Kálvin tér restaurant, guests can look forward to our familiar selection of delicious breakfast and brunch dishes, carefully prepared specialty coffee, and fresh breads and pastries from our own artisan bakery. Whether you're meeting friends, enjoying a family breakfast or taking a leisurely break while discovering Budapest, the historic palace offers a memorable setting for every occasion.

The building itself has a fascinating past. Originally associated with Budapest's aristocratic families, the Hadik Palace later became home to the renowned Kossuth Club, an important meeting place for the city's cultural and intellectual community. Today, its elegant interiors provide a unique backdrop for the Cafe Brunch experience.

One of the restaurant's greatest attractions is its exceptional location directly opposite the Hungarian National Museum Garden. The garden's peaceful pathways and charming children's playground are easily accessible through a side entrance just across the street, making our restaurant especially appealing to families exploring Budapest.

Cafe Brunch Budapest – Kálvin tér is scheduled to open on 1 December 2026, welcoming guests daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We look forward to welcoming you to our newest restaurant in the heart of Budapest's historic Palace District.

Discover Kálvin tér and Budapest's historic Palace District

Kálvin tér is one of Budapest's most historic squares and important meeting points, connecting the lively city centre with the elegant streets of the Palotanegyed, or Palace District. Named after the Protestant reformer John Calvin in 1874, the square is home to the beautiful Kálvin Square Reformed Church, completed in 1830, and today serves as a major transport hub with excellent connections throughout Budapest. The surrounding Palace District takes its name from the magnificent aristocratic residences built here during the second half of the 19th century, when wealthy Hungarian noble families established their grand city palaces close to the newly constructed National Museum. Today, the neighbourhood retains much of its historic charm, with elegant architecture, picturesque streets, cultural institutions, small boutiques and atmospheric cafés offering visitors a glimpse into Budapest's fascinating past.

At the heart of the neighbourhood stands the Hungarian National Museum, one of the country's most important cultural landmarks. Founded in 1802, the museum occupies a magnificent neoclassical building designed by Mihály Pollack and completed in 1847. It played a significant role in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and remains a powerful symbol of the nation's history. Surrounding the museum is the beautiful Museum Garden, a peaceful green oasis with mature trees, winding paths, historic statues and the delightful "Muzi" children's playground, inspired by classic Hungarian literature. The garden's side entrance on Múzeum utca is located directly opposite Cafe Brunch Budapest – Kálvin tér, making our restaurant a convenient place for breakfast before a museum visit, a relaxed brunch after sightseeing or a family outing followed by playtime in the park.
